THE MILLION DOLLAH QUESTION: WHY ON EARTH DOES SHE DO … ALL OF THIS?

Before Erin created Erin Rose Design, she worked as a professional theatrical and dance industry costume designer.

In a town with as many small theater groups as Chicago, a costumer learns a few things quickly – like thrifting is necessary to stretch shoestring theater budgets and that the effort/income ratio is horribly imbalanced in the arts.

As a burnt-out costumer in a one-bedroom apartment slowly overflowing with broken jewelry, vintage clothing/menswear, and antique textiles, Erin decided to reclaim her narrative (and her living space) by recycling and upcycling her stash into one-of-a-kind handbags and jewelry.

The response was epic.

But then… 2020 happened.

Erin decided to reinvent how she makes art.

Her love for the dark and dramatic is balanced by her desire to spread humor and joy, and shI wanted to approach gift-giving through a more eco-friendly and environmentally responsible lens. That is why every single product Erin makes gives back: a portion of proceeds go to charity.

It all started in Baltimore.

Erin has been an artist, a crafter, designer, and an actor “jack of all trades” since she was a little girl.

Life these days is very fast-moving and in your face, and Erin believes that taking a moment to meditate, set an intention, and practice self-worth and self-care is more powerful than ever.
